Nice To Meet You!

Hey there, I’m Rowan! I’m a public relations major, writer, and digital marketing strategist from Montreal, QC, who now calls Memphis, TN, home. I combine my fervent passion for art in all its forms with my knack for building relationships to entertain and inspire through my dynamic use of language and creativity.

To Make A Long Story Short…

The year is 2016. I had just completed my social marketing diploma at Concordia University but I was working as a free lance make-up artist. On this particular day, I was taking on some HD production make-up for a local band. During a set break, one of the members and I got to discussing careers. That is when he offered me a position as an entry-level consultant and content creator for his start-up digital marketing agency. Unbeknownst to me, accepting this position would set the tone for how I DO NOT want to carry myself in my career.

Within months, I discovered that my passion for digital marketing and content creation was being hampered by the lack of value placed on our clients’ businesses by the people above me. It felt as though we were going through the motions without any heart or definitive end goal. This realization is what inspired me to branch out and start my own digital marketing agency – a one-woman-show led by three months of experience and a delusion-fueled entrepreneur.

Pitching myself was easy. I’m Irish, I have the gift of gab. In contrast, keeping up with my own expectations proved to be not only a learning curve, but a humbling experience. The ideas were there, the execution - not so much. With time, hard work, and absolutely nothing more than two hours of sleep per night, as I worked bar shifts to make ends meet alongside my new-found business venture - I found my footing in the industry. It was only onwards and upwards from there as opportunities rolled in abundance, awarding me the opportunity to work with some incredible people and local businesses.

About a year later, once again, I switched up and took a job working in logistics. Now, I know, what was I doing in logistics? I still can’t tell you. All I can tell you is that no matter how much they’re willing to pay you, donating 75% of your life to midnight shifts is never worth it. Fortunately, despite my poor career judgement, I managed to maintain a light load of digital marketing work, until the pandemic hit.

The dawn of the pandemic brought nothing productive, as I sat in my condo attempting to make resin art like the rest of the internet. But, that all changed mid-pandemic when I connected with my now husband, a spark that propelled me to reinvent my entire life.

Fast forward to 2020. It’s September. I had just made a huge transition from Montreal to Memphis with little to no fall-back plan. This meant I also left my support system and career behind. I decided to take on a job working at a local bar, doubling as both a bartender and in-house content creator while I put myself through yet another round of University. During this time, I did a lot of social media writing, which catapulted me into the realm of copywriting. Since then, writing has become my escape, career, hobby, and everything in between.

What began as an occasional side hustle soon blossomed into an incredibly fulfilling career. I have since expanded my writing horizons exponentially. I’ve worked as a ghostwriter for an array of businesses and blogs, crafting everything from promotional content and social media posts to advertisements, website copy, and beyond.

I’ve come to learn that my driving force behind my career in both writing and public relations, is my love of story-telling. Be it a compelling marketing pitch to amplify a brand’s vision or writing an off-the-wall feature that gives readers something that they didn’t even know they were missing. I thrive on creating captivating content that exudes personality.

When I’m not busy crafting innovative ways to capture my audience through writing and digital marketing, I enjoy spending my time with my husband and my three furry soulmates, my dogs, Odin, Linus, and Doug. I also have an insatiable appetite for experiencing all life has to offer, which has led me to become a passionate traveler. But, if I’m not running off to my next adventure, I am a true home-body who loves to sit around in pyjamas and indulge in my artist side. I enjoy painting, writing, and crafting, especially if I can use glitter.
